Hoping to get some input on this 2 year old female guinea pig since my experience with abdominal radiographs are limited.
Owner thinks the pig has made some weird noises (not the usual ones) over the last few weeks and is worried if it might be expressions of pain. It has also been drinking a little bit more but no more urine than normal in the cage. Other than that the Guinea pig is fine, maybe a little overweight. Eats pellets, hay, vegetables, mostly kale. No supplements. Normal feces and eating. Lives with another gp that is fine.
On examination the abdomen has these kind of bell-like formations bilaterally on the sides of the abdomen, soft to the touch on palpation and feels like the rest of the abdomen. Other than that the examination had no other remarks apart from long claws.
I think it looks like abdominal content on the x-ray but you can see the sphere-like shapes on both sides of the abdomen. I have tried to google normal x-rays of guinea pig abdomen but I an not sure if it is intestines I see or something else.
Told owner next step possible ultrasound abdomen and blood work.
Is there any reason for concern here?
