I hope somebody can help me with this patient - 1 year old male guinea pig with swollen left hindlimb. The leg got swollen after a fight with another male. He has been treated with metacam (0,6 mg/kg) SID and bactrim (30 mg/kg) BID for 1 week now and the leg is still the same. He is not using the leg at all. X-ray did not reveal any fracture. I have tried to puncture and evacuate purulent exudate two times, but only a few drops comes out… Should I change antibiotics to Baytril? Can this be given PO and at what dosage? Anything else I can do?
