Hi everyone!
This is Jeffrey, a female leopard gecko, 2y old.
Had a phone consult last Friday, history of 10 day anorexia. Still had a decent sized tail at the time, was BAR, just not eating. Owners feed crickets, mealworms and occasional other worms, normalt dust with calcium but had never used any vitamin supplements. UVB bulb had not been replaced for 2 years, although it happened to break a few days pre consult so a new one is installed. On a fine sandy substrate, but is handfed so doesn't ingest sand when eating (could ofc still have impaction.)
I recommended a vet visit, but owners wanted advice to try girst. recommended adding vitamins, supporting with water droplets, attempt the water baths with massage for impaction. 2 days post call the gecko are a cricket and defecated.
Came to see me today out of the blue, as they had suddenly noticed the tongue was odd. General health check otherwise quite good, 75g, BAR today, but there is a superficial lesion on the tongue that has traces of blood to it. Owners only noticed it yesterday, unsure if it is the main cause of the anorexia or not. Not eaten more than the once after initial phone consult
Any ideas to what caused the tongue issue? And treatment? It's currently on meloxaid for a few days while I research
Thank you everyone!
