Thoughts on a 3 yr old FS DSH with 1 year history of intermittent "coughing episodes" per the owner. No acute respiratory distress. Still eating drinking and ripping around per the o otherwise.
On exam I noted increased inspiratory sounds on the right side towards the heart base a kind of wheezing, no murmurs and no other abnormalities noted.
I struggled to get blood on her....she was super good but just was not giving me much to work with!! I have about 1 ml of EDTA blood and 1/2 ml of serum separator tube...
Ddx:
I want to rule out Heartworm (located in PA and was a stray who adopted the owners). Lower on my list but a possibility but I will need to get more blood
Cardiac dz (HCM) question on my VHS I was debating the most cranial portion of the heart base...I'm getting the idexx probnp snap tests tomorrow (new practice getting set up)
Feline asthma
Or a combo of the above. Any other thoughts?!?? Other diagnostics I should consider? Thank you in advance for any thoughts and input!!
