Client with a male budgy soon 7 yrs old showing fluctuating brown discoloration of ceres. I have discussed possibility of estrogenproducing neopl with pwner, but it's not logical that it fluctuates.  Is there a point in analyzing estradiol ? Also I believe hormoneproducing tumours can be very small , and here the brown discolor flucuates and is incomplete (spots only) so I'm not so sure there is much hope finding a possible hormonproducing tumour ..
Photo from owner taken 12/2 received. The beak is now more brown than blue. Pics enclosed

I usually treat these with lupron (Leuprorelin acetate) at 37,5 ug/budgie under 50 g BW IM q 14 days up to 3 times. If it resolves, then it’s something producing hormones. If it’s benign or low malignancy, he/she might need to repeat the series if needed, during the seasons. Otherwise it’s MRI full body, which is, I might say, kinda impractical. Also hormonal tests: these malignancies might produce a whole spectrum of sexual steroids that might not be detectable in small samples.

Laboklin and Idexx can anlyze estradiol but have no bird ref values and need 1ml serum. (a lot for a budgie)
