Fine needle aspirat from a 3 year old chicken with a swelling between two toes. Didn't smell anything. The chicken has been limping for a small week, but didn't seem to bother when I palpated the fort. A small, old, uncomplicated cut under the foot. Not typical pododermatitis.
Too many heterophils if only blood? Sign of infection?
Bird pus often solid when old and that’s a lot of wbc so I’d say operate and open up swelling as suspect that’s what you will find. I’d also remove that scab incase foreign body too. If the bird is limping it’s sore so needs analgesia and ideally radiograph to ensure no bone involvement. With dressings afterwards they often do well provided no osteomyelitis. Is the birds other foot ok?
