Hello everyone. I am a new graduate vet working in a very rural part of South Africa. The area has very poor tick control. I am looking for guidance regarding what I am seeing on these blood smears.

All 4 dogs presented to the clinic with pyrexia and a gastrointestinal symptom (whether it be vomiting or diarrhoea)
All 4 patients were diagnosed Babesiosis. I keep spotting these in the monocytes of these patients. I’ve heard you’re very lucky if you’re able see Ehrlicia morulae on a blood smear - so I am wondering, are these just artefacts in the monocytes or something else?

Thank you so much!
